ATLAS MEDIA CORP. FORMS ATLAS DIGITAL & EMERGING MEDIA GROUP
NEW YORK, OCTOBER 10, 2007 — Atlas Media Corp., one of the country’s largest and most influential independent producers of non-fiction television programming, has formed Atlas Digital & Emerging Media to develop and produce original content for the mobile and online platforms. The announcement was made today by Atlas Media’s president and executive producer, Bruce David Klein.
Mr. Klein also disclosed the Atlas Digital & Emerging Media has already reached the following initial content agreements —
• YouTube: Launch of a dedicated YouTube channel called Stounder, which will premiere on October 15. Initial content on the channel will include: the series Things you Have to See to Believe, featuring mind-blowing adventures into the worlds of intriguing rituals, bizarre festivals, outrageous behavior and beyond; and Dr. Strange Sex, featuring case studies, insights and advice from renowned sex therapist, Dr. Joel Block. • Comcast’s FEARnet: Atlas Digital & Emerging Media Group is producing the series Route 666: America’s Scariest Home Haunts. Each webisode (31x4-minutes) of this heart-pumping scarefest highlights one of the country’s most innovative home haunts and uncovers the secrets behind the “scares.” Blood, gore and frights galore! Series is hosted by sexy “Scream-Queen” Danielle Harris (Star of “Halloween IV, “Halloween V” and Rob Zombie’s recent blockbuster remake, “Halloween.”). New webisodes premiere, one per day, during the entire month of October.
• Discovery Mobile: Producing a yet-to-be named pilot to be rolled out on cell phones.
• FUSE: Producing three pilot webisodes for a reality game show to be tested online.
Remarked Mr. Klein, “As today’s consumers look for entertainment and information on multiple devices, we as creators and storytellers must develop content that views well and can easily migrate across these new and emerging digital platforms.”
Mr. Klein also noted that the new division will be headed by Maria Lane, who has been named executive vice president, Atlas Digital & Emerging Media. Ms. Lane most recently served as executive vice president, programming for Atlas Media Corp. An innovator and leader in content creation across multiple platforms, current projects under her guidance include a series of 31 webisodes for Comcast’s FEARnet, a mobile phone content pilot project for Discovery, and a Web pilot for FUSE.
Ms. Lane will spearhead Atlas’ new vision for all non-traditional media, marrying the company’s longstanding reputation for top-quality production with unique solutions for the new media environment. She launched Atlas’ foray into the world of Web-based content as Executive Producer of a 25-part Web series for Disney’s Family Fun Magazine. Cross-platform opportunities followed with companion series for such History Channel hits as American Eats and History Rocks both of which became among the highest in-demand content on the History Channel Web site.
During her tenure as Atlas’ Executive VP of Programming, Lane developed and launched hundreds of hours of television programming for the domestic and international marketplace. Lane ushered in such highly-acclaimed series as History’s Lost & Found and American Eats both for the History Channel; Dr. G: Medical Examiner for Discovery Health; Young, Sexy &… for WE tv; Top 5 and Behind The Bash with cooking sensation Giada De Laurentiis for Food Network, among others.
Atlas Media Corp. has been involved in new media productions on a limited basis throughout its history.
