ATLAS MEDIA CORP. & CROWN PUBLISHING IN MAJOR BOOK DEAL BASED ON TOP RATED ‘DR.G MEDICAL EXAMINER’ TV SERIES
NEW YORK, OCTOBER 5, 2007 — Atlas Media Corp., which earlier this year announced the formation of a feature film division, has once again significantly expanded the scope of its multi-platform activities. Bruce David Klein, president and executive producer, of Atlas Media Corp., announced today that the company has concluded a major book deal with Crown Publishing Group based on its originally-produced television series, Dr. G: Medical Examiner.
The #1 rated program airing on Discovery Health Channel is now in its fourth season and stars Dr. Jan Garavaglia. The agreement with Crown Publishing’s Executive Editor, Heather Jackson was brokered by Stephen Hanselman, founder of LevelFiveMedia, on behalf of Atlas Media Corp.
Atlas Media, in association with Crown Publishing and Dr. Garavaglia, will develop the book HOW NOT TO DIE: Surprising Lessons on Living Longer, Safer and Healthier from America’s Favorite Medical Examiner. According to Mr. Klein the book will turn the table on the health category by using the popular fascination with forensic pathology to provide an enlightening new window on the everyday decisions we make that affect our longevity, safety and overall health.
Mr. Klein remarked, “Dr. G has been a signature series for Atlas Media and Discovery Health and, in that regard, it is most fitting that the program is leading our company’s charge into book publishing. Our association with top book agent Stephen Hanselman at LevelFiveMedia will be key to our efforts on the book publishing front.” He added, “While Atlas’ roots remain in television, our future success will also come from our ability to develop content that seamlessly works across multiple media platforms.”
