Atlas Media Corp. Cuts New Deal with ID Distribution for Top-Rated “DR G: MEDICAL EXAMINER”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Atlas Media also announces second season pick-up for the series
New York – March 28, 2005 - With the two companies having secured a deal in January for the reality series Young, Sexy &…, Atlas Media Corp., the leading NY-based independent television producer, announced today that they have now signed another deal with London-based ID Distribution for worldwide television distribution rights, excluding North America, for their top-rated reality series Dr. G: Medical Examiner. This deal was negotiated by Bruce David Klein, Atlas Media’s President and Executive Producer, and Sally Miles, Managing Director for ID Distribution, who will be offering the series for the first time at the upcoming MIP Convention.
In addition to the deal with ID Distribution, Klein also announced that Discovery Health Channel has ordered 21 new one-hour episodes of Dr. G: Medical Examiner for a second season bringing the total number of episodes to 33 one-hours. The series originally premiered in July 2004. ID Distribution has acquired the rights to all 33 episodes.
“Our Dr. G series is currently number-one in prime time for Discovery Health and has far exceeded their expectations. Its dramatic content and powerful mission has changed everyone who has worked on it and audiences can’t seem to get enough,” commented Klein. “We are confident that ID Distribution will have similar success with this program internationally.”
“Young, Sexy &… has been a really successful title in our catalogue. Atlas Media delivered the show to us in January and we have already concluded sales of the series in 10 countries. We are delighted to be working with Atlas Media again on another series that has great potential in the international market. Thirty-three hours is a very appealing volume for our buyers.”
In this compelling series, forensic pathologist Dr. Jan Garavaglia (Dr. G), Chief Medical Examiner of the District Nine Medical Examiner’s Office in Orlando, Florida, explores the reasons behind sudden and unexplained deaths. She uses cutting-edge forensic science and technology to solve the mysteries of life and death and bring closure to the living. Each episode of Dr. G: Medical Examiner follows several unexplained cases. Viewers witness the extent to which Dr. G goes to ensure that the deceased – and the families and friends they leave behind – rest in peace. Dr. G: Medical Examiner is produced for Discovery Health Channel by Atlas Media Corp. Bruce David Klein is the executive producer for Atlas Media.
