Atlas Media Brings New Docudrama Series Dr. G: Medical Examiner to MIP TV 2004
FOR MIP TV 2004:
(Cannes/New York) - Atlas Media Corp., the award-winning New York City-based reality-documentary production company, has set MIP TV 2004 for the international launch of a new docudrama series entitled Dr. G: Medical Examiner. The announcement was made by Bruce David Klein, President and Executive Producer of Atlas Media.
Produced for Discovery Health, the docudrama series Dr. G: Medical Examiner, is a natural extension of the phenomenally successful pilot episode of the same name. Capturing Dr. G’s professionalism and charisma, the program reached viewers’ hearts and minds, generating high ratings for Discovery Health in the U.S. and attracting attention from media outlets such as CNN Headline News and Oprah!, the latter of which dedicated a one-hour program to Dr. G and her work. Production of the series began in January 2004 in Orlando, Florida.
Offering thirteen one-hour episodes, Dr. G: Medical Examiner profiles one of the top forensic pathologists in America and her work at the world-class Orange-Osceola County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida, where she recently accepted a position as the new Chief M.E.. As a female M.E. — a rarity in the field — and a mother of two, Dr. Jan Garavaglia, or Dr. G as she is commonly referred to, fuels her medical expertise with a strong sense of compassion, resolving deaths and providing emotional closure to grieving families and loved ones.
In an unprecedented move, Dr. Garavaglia has granted Atlas Media exclusive access to her life and work. With extraordinary 24/7 access to the medical investigators, the morgue staff, and Dr. Garavaglia, Dr. G: Medical Examiner reveals the intimate, inner workings of an extraordinary forensic pathology lab. Each episode features fascinating, dramatic, in-depth examinations of several deaths – including actual autopsies and exploring the investigative process through field searches at death scenes. Unique in its genre, the series combines a cinema-verité style of documentary with dramatic, cinematic reenactments probing the causes of death or recreating past cases.
“We are pleased to launch our latest series at MIP TV 2004,” said Bruce David Klein. “Dr. G: Medical Examiner is a unique reality-docudrama series blending hard science and human drama, creating a compelling program that will provide strong appeal to broadcasters and viewers around the world.”
